Dr. Serkan KARAS
Dr. Serkan Karas is Project Manager at CeRISS. Since 2008 he has developed academic and research experience in Science, Technology and Society Studies (STS). In 2012 he has worked as Research Assistant in the European network of researchers ‘Tensions of Europe’ (ToE) in which he conducted research on transnational flows of knowledge, artefacts and people in Southeastern Europe, while in 2015 - 2016 has taught STS classes at Bilkent University (Ankara, Turkey) as Adjunct Lecturer. During his postdoctoral research as Brooke Hindle Postdoc Fellow at the University of Athens (2016-2017) he focused on the field of knowledge management and has co-organized Masters’ seminars on themes concerning Governance, Uncertainty and Technosciences. He has substantial expertise on issues related to expert knowledge, risk management and socio-technical infrastructures.
Dr. Serkan Karas got his undergraduate degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Bogazici University (Istanbul, Turkey). He holds a MA in European Studies in Science, Technology and Society from the University of Maastricht and completed his PhD in History of Technology at the University of Athens. He has been awarded multiple fellowships from Cyprus, Greece, Netherlands and USA. He was born in Cyprus and speaks Turkish, Greek and English.
