Lecture on Central Asia at OIIP Vienna, Austria

On 15th January, Dr. George Bonas conducted a lecture at the Austrian Institute for International Affairs (OIIP), funded by the Austrian Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology (BMVIT) on the theme “Towards an „Innovation Silk Road“? Science, Technology and Innovation in the Central Asian States”.

The lecture took place under the Transnational Lecture and Workshop Series on the Internationalization of Science, Technology and Innovation Policies the Institute initiated in 2014 as part of its research focus on International Science and Technology Policy.

The lecture focused in particular on the Central Asian countries STI systems and opportunities for international collaboration presenting the features of the STI Systems, internationalization strategies and opportunities for future cooperation between Austria and the Central Asian countries, as well as on more interregional considerations.

The content of the lecture was based on the experience and deliverables of a series of FP7 projects coordinated by Dr. Bonas, such as IncoNet EECA, IncoNet CA/SC, IncoNet CA, in the period 2008 – 2016. 

The event was attended by government officials as well as representatives from academia and business.
