The EU Delegation in Sri Lanka co-organized a series of events in March 2020 in partnership with key players from the Sri Lankan innovation and startup community, aiming at bridging the Sri Lankan and European ecosystems. These events were part of the SLISE project (‘Support to Sri Lankan Innovation and Startup Ecosystem’) and Dr. George Bonas took part in them as Expert on behalf of A.R.S. Progetti S.P.A., one of the contractors of the project.

The events were organized in roundtable format where Sri Lankan stakeholders interacted with the European specialists covering a broad range of topics related to the innovation and startup ecosystem. Dr. Bonas presented in two workshops (Colombo and Peradeniya) H2020 and the ways for participation in calls for proposals of interest to the Sri Lankan researchers and innovators.

This activity is continuing till October 2021 in synergy with another EU funded initiative, the EU – Sri Lanka Innovation partnership’. It involves a series of webinars and personalized assistance to researchers aiming to apply for the last H2020 calls or for the forthcoming ‘Horizon Europe’ calls, as well as assistance to the ‘University – Business Linkage’ Cells of the Sri Lankan Universities for strengthening the internalization of their activities and the commercialization of research results in Europe.
