Enhancement of European International Cooperation and Eastern Partnership in R&D&I
Under the Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, an important conference dedicated to the “Enhancement of European International Cooperation and Eastern Partnership in R&D&I (EEP2013)” took place in Vilnius, on 30 September – 1 October 2013.
The event has brought together high level policy makers and representatives of the research communities from the Eastern Partnership countries and EU Member States, as well as representatives of the European Commission.
The conference addressed issues related to the EU’s Eastern Partnership policies, R&D&I with emphasis on Horizon 2020 and good practices but also weaknesses that require further joint EU-EaP efforts. The participants adopted a Declaration “Towards a Common Knowledge and Innovation Space between the EU and Eastern Partnership Countries”.
Dr. George Bonas (Managing Director of CeRISS) in his capacity as Scientific Coordinator of the “STI International Cooperation Network for Eastern Partnership Countries - IncoNet EaP” project presented at the plenary a series of opportunities that exist in the cooperation between EU and EaP countries and the way the IncoNet EaP project intends to address them.
