Tue, 08/12/2015

A workshop for the concrete presentation of the results from the Policy Mix Peer Review of the Georgian STI System took place in Tbilisi, on 20 November 2015.

The result of this presentation was a deep analysis of the existing RDI policies with recommendations for the development and improvement of the Georgian STI policies in accordance with EU`s practices.

Background: Following a request by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, the IncoNet EaP project organized a Policy Mix Peer Review (PMPR) exercise in Georgia in March 2015. During a five-days visit of a panel of international experts, continuous interviews with major STI stakeholders (from policy makers to scientists) were held and on the spot visits in research institutes, organisations and agencies were organised.

The main policy intervention sectors were:
- Human Resources,
- Science Base,
- Business R&D and Innovation,
- Economic and Market Development.

The timeframe of the Policy Mix Peer Review Exercise in Georgia was very important as the European Commission was in negotiation with Georgia for the Association to the Horizon 2020 programme.

The Workshop was organized by the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation and the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia. Please find the agenda here.
